Corporate Responsibility

Good Energy is a different kind of energy company. Guided by our principles and values, we have a track record of successfully challenging the way things are done, putting power back into the hands of families, communities and businesses across the country. The social foundation of our business is to provide energy in a way that doesn’t contribute to – and works to combat – climate change.

We believe the UK can be powered purely by renewables. That's why we have always sourced our electricity from certified renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro and biogeneration. Our gas is carbon neutral too; 10% comes from biomethane and we neutralise emissions from all the gas our customers use through our portfolio of offset projects. The projects we select are Gold Standard certified and deliver wider benefits in their local communities such as creating new green jobs.

We were named “best green electricity supplier” and one of the UK’s most ethical companies of the last 25 years by Ethical Consumer Magazine. We have also been an accredited Living Wage employer since 2015 and in 2019 introduced a Green Travel Allowance for our people.

We continue to prove that the “other way” is better. You can find out more about where and how we source our energy, how we look after our people and how we treat our customers at: and in our 2019 Annual Report.

As a purpose-led business, we aspire to be as transparent as possible about our activities. In 2019, we were given the highest green rating from Which? magazine and saw Ofgem acknowledge that they intend to address the problem of consumers being misled by greenwashed tariffs. Our 2019 Annual Report describes what we’ve been doing over the last year, and reflects on our progress towards achieving our purpose.
